perfect vs. good

I'm reposting this here, because the sheer number of ninnys ready to jump ship on Obama simply because he said something they either disagree with or (more often) don't see the political strategy behind is REALLY beginning to "grind my gears", as a very astute man once said.

To all the whiners unable to see past the current crop of headlines:

ARE YOU REALLY THIS GULLIBLE?

"OH NOEZ, I THOUGHT OBAMA WAS PERFECT AND WOULD ONLY DO AND SAY WHAT I WANTED HIM TOOOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Are you actually going to fall for EVERY SINGLE feint to the center Obama makes in the general election campaign? Are you going to swallow every single one, even more completely than the folks they were designed for -- independents and moderates? Do you REALLY think that what Obama says in a GENERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT OF THE GODDAMN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA totally negates every position, stance, and speech he has made in his whole career???

come on now. people need to grow up and smell the electoral votes.

Oh, and all this complete nonsense about "let me know now, so I can vote for some other candidate"...? That just makes people who say it sound like Naderites. All principle and no execution gets you George Bush in 2000 and right where we are now. Just probably even worse next time.

Let President Obama take office, since he is BY FAR, no matter WHAT HE SAYS in the next four months, OUR BEST OPTION. Do we want a democrat in the White House, or John McCain? That is the Only Choice right now, sorry kids! You play the hand you're dealt as best you can, you don't whine about it before you can influence the outcome.

Once he's elected, THEN hold him accountable and start pushing leftward. Until that point, stop being so eager to form the proverbial Progressive Circular Firing Squad and just keep your head down if you can't tell the spin from reality.

Now that I'm done blowing off steam at the O Ye of Little Faith crowd, as a little evidence that Constitutional Law Professor Barack Obama MIGHT just know what he's doing more than all the people so ready to criticize him, I encourage you all to read this Kos post on Obama's FISA compromise by Keith Olbermann.
